Our homeschooling journey started unexpectedly, a week before the summer break of 2023. Things went awry at my daughter’s school and I seized that opportunity to answer an old calling - to homeschool. It’s now been nearly 21 months since that day and what a beautiful journey it has been. Homeschooling has blessed our family in innumerable ways, and we are so grateful for it. It took us a while to experiment and find our rhythm, but we now know that learning about various cultures and various species is at the heart of our homeschooling. Because, as we learned in one homeschool lesson, we humans are just one leaf on a tree with millions of leaves, where each leaf is a species. Just one leaf. How humbling is that thought?

So, my wish, desire, and hope as a homeschool mom is to raise my children to be loving beings who respect and, care for all cultures and all species. That, I think, makes a good recipe for peace.
